Los Angeles Mandatory Retrofit Program
The City of Los Angeles has identified thousands of wood-frame soft-story buildings and issued mandatory retrofit orders. If your building has received a compliance order, you are required to complete a seismic retrofit by the deadline or face fines and penalties.

Retrofit Scope & Methods
Cripple Wall Bolting — The most common retrofit for single-family homes built before 1980. We install structural plywood shear panels on the interior face of cripple walls and anchor the wall to the foundation with approved hardware.
Foundation Anchor Bolts — We install or add anchor bolts connecting the wood mudsill to the concrete foundation, preventing the house from sliding off its foundation in a lateral earthquake event.
Hold-Down Hardware — Engineered metal connectors that tie wall framing to the foundation, preventing overturning forces from lifting wall corners.
Soft-Story Retrofit — For apartment buildings and multi-unit structures with open parking on the ground floor, we install moment frames or shear walls to resist the lateral forces that collapsed these buildings in past earthquakes.
